I can, sir. [A slightly longer hesitation this time] Not with the weapons I've seen are used most here, though I am willing to learn. I can use swords, pole-arms, and a long bow, and I have training in unarmed combat.

[Olivier stands, pushing her chair back, and turns to the saber on the wall, which she gently plucks from its stand...

...and then turns, stabbing forward at the girl's throat.] Defend yourself!

[Kel jerks back and to the side, stepping in towards Olivier to make her blade harder to use. Automatically, she turns, grabbing for the thrusting wrist, trying to get Olivier's arm over her shoulder and throw her]

[The desk is between them, meaning that while Kel is easily able to grab her wrist, there's not the leverage needed to throw a woman of Olivier's stature. Not that she'd let her, anyway. Her free hand drops to the holster at her left side, pulling out a dagger, which she brings around in a slash.]

[Kel keeps pulling, yanking at the wrist she has a hold of, trying to shake loose the sword. She's in too close to twist enough away from the knife and she hisses in pain as she feels a slash to her side.

Fiercely, she pushes Olivier's arm down towards the edge of the desk. Not wanting to break it, even if she could, but pain for pain...]

[Olivier's arm hits the desk, and she scowls silently in pain, but she doesn't drop her sword. Nor does she attack further.

After a moment, she pulls the sword back, turning to hang it up on the wall.] Your reflexes are fine. Instincts adequate.

You shouldn't have stayed in when I used the dagger. I pulled the blow. If I'd wanted, it could've gone straight for your heart.

[Wincing, Kel backs away from the desk, pulling her spare handkerchiefs out of a pocket, and wadding them into a bandage]

As you say, sir.

[She gives no reasons, reasons are excuses]

Still, you're not hopeless. [She says, taking out her own handkerchief and wiping her dagger clean before resheathing it. When it seems that Kel is just going to bandage the wound, she frowns.] Out of the office, down the hall, closet on the left. Medical supply room. For gods' sake, disinfect it before you bandage.

[Kel bows slightly, hand still pushing the cloth against her side. It may be a shallow cut, but no sarden way is she bleeding all over the floor.

Considering herself dismissed, she turns and walks out the door.

....Well, that probably wasn't the strangest encounter she's ever had]
